Mike Rice: Zone Offense and Zone Concepts

with Mike Rice,
Rutgers University Head Coach;
former Robert Morris University Head Coach; 2008 NEC Jim Phelan Coach of the Year; NABC District 3 Coach of the Year

While Mike Rice may be better known for his intense half court defense, his zone offense packs quite a punch. In this on the court clinic instruction, Coach Rice shows how to maximize your zone offense efficiency and train your players to become instinctive to attacking zone defenses.

Drills
Using several different drills Coach Rice shows how he breaks down his zone offense. Using a mixture of high intensity passing and shooting drills he shows how to make players be naturally instinctive to zone defense. These drills not only help players become better players against zone, but make them able to read defense and react to it, making them more complete players for any system.

Zone Offense
Emphasizing patience, discipline, and shot selection Coach Rice explains his zone offense philosophy, and walks through nine different zone attacks. By using both specific sets and continuity action, these zone offense attacks allow for many options to score and many options the defense in turn has to react to. These sets include 3-point options and one that will "shred any "box and 1" defense." He concludes with four inbounds plays designed to provide easy baskets and help your team" own the zone".

With the balance of sets and continuity action, Rice's offensive attack will make every teams zone offense significantly better. Order now and you will see vast improvement in your players decision making and a much more efficient zone offense.
