All Access Purdue Basketball Practice with Matt Painter

with Matt Painter,
Purdue University Head Coach;
2008 Big Ten Coach of the Year;
2009 United States U19 National Team Assistant Coach, Gold Medalist at the FIBA U19 World Championship

Matt Painter, one of America's most successful and respected young coaches, showcases four Purdue basketball practices demonstrating the drills, principles and techniques that have taken the Boilermakers to the top of the NCAA rankings.

Coach Painter emphasizes four basic parts of the game and structures his practice around them.

  • Half-court defense
  • Rebounding
  • Taking care of the ball
  • Transition defense

Painter sets the tone of each practice by starting out with his defensive breakdowns. He dissects Purdue's man-to-man defense with a variety of drills and exercises.

Painter's practices include post and perimeter skill work, transition motion, secondary break, free throw work, man defense, shell work, motion offense and much more.

Painter ends each practice with a competitive drill including a rebounding drill (Rebound War), a shoot out (No Man's Land) and a limitation drill (60 Point Drill).

Get your team into championship form with breakdowns, one-on-one teaching and competitive drills.
