SAN JUAN (FIBA Americas) – Brazil, Argentina, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico have expressed an interest in hosting the 2011 FIBA Americas Championship. The FIBA Americas have confirmed that each of the country’s governing body for basketball has submitted letters of interest to stage the event. Brazil held this year's FIBA Americas Championship for Women were also named as hosts of the 2016 Olympic Games. The president of the Brazilian Basketball Confederation, Carlos Nunes, said in a statement that he wants the 2011 tournament that is to serve as the qualifying event for the 2012 London Olympics to be held in Brazil.
